The Girls Cross Country team is undeniably having a very strong season. The girls team has dominated the downriver league and has a very promising future. The very first meet for the girls set the tone with a sweep of  2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th places taken by Briana Vojinov, Katie Dietrich, Brooke Berridge, and Peyton Sheffler in order. This is extremely impressive with a single team securing 4 of the top 5 places out of 109 girls.

The girls then went on to compete at the 37th Annual Monroe Jefferson HS XC Invite with tough competition coming from Macomb Dakota, Ann Arbor Huron and Wyandotte but still were able to secure the second place trophy. This was a disappointing loss but overall, was a great lesson to the girls that every spot and athlete matters.

The girls immediately bounced back with a win at the first Downriver League Jamboree.

The girls headed to the second Downriver League Jamboree on October 5, where they took the win with a score of 32, outscoring the second place team by a total of 24 points. Senior standout Briana Vojinov, who has been taking cross country by storm returning for her last season, has been giving her competitors someone to lookout for and has a few words expressing how she felt after her 3rd place win. “I felt that my performance was solid for the conditions on that day. I attempted to stay with my competitors and successfully accomplished that goal, and I ended up racing a great time.” This was an impressive win by the Warriors and certainly would not be their last.

The Warriors finished 1st in the Riverview Gabriel Richard Invitational in sloshing, muddy conditions on October 16.

The Warriors are expected to make their presence known at MHSAA Regionals on the 30th.
