Boys cross country capitalizes on opportunity

The Boys Cross Country team is having an excellent season.

The boys started off their first meet at the Warrior Classic Cross Country Invitational where they met solid competition from Monroe, Tecumseh, and Dundee, but the Warriors fought a tough fight securing third place only one single point behind the two tying teams. This was a very difficult meet but the boys still were able to stay with the competition and ultimately gain a lot of growth.

The Warriors headed to the 7th Annual Monroe Jefferson HS XC Invite on September 25th, where they took on teams scattered around the area. Andrew Whitman, an athlete that has shown he’s an competitive beast who is out for blood this season, finshed in the top 20 with 13th places coming in close to his other competitors. Great performances also came from Justin Romero, Ben Schott, and Jeremy Romero. The team finished 5th place but came out to compete.

The Warriors then went on to compete at the first Downriver League Jamboree and had outstanding performances from multiple athletes securing the win over the Downriver League taking the trophy home by 6 points. This was a very important win for the cross country team.

Coming off the last win, the boys had confidence in themselves, enough confidence that led them to their second Downriver meet where they defeated the second-place team by a total of 25 points, thanks in part to excellent performances coming from seniors Justin Romero and Andrew Whitman.

Look for Warriors to be a presence at MHSAA Regionals on the 30th.
