JV isn’t just Varsity’s little brother
October 27, 2021
The WHS JV football team started off hot and have yet to cool down, as coaches Trevor Dobruk and Mike Pintar look to add a fourth consecutive undefeated season to the record books.
The Warriors have an elite defense that is led by sophomore linebackers Andrew Phillips and Gary Pilgrim. Pilgrim, currently leading the team in touchdowns this season, is also a menace on the offensive side of the ball.
The Warriors are a threat in the passing game, as well with QB Benjamin Kolodziejczyk, a 6′ all-star who’s a threat in the pocket and has a nice run game.
After their big win over Trenton, Pilgrim, who scored four TDs in that game, stated, “We’re the best JV team in the Downriver League this year.”
The Warriors backed up Pilgrim’s statement the next week, taking down the Wyandotte Bears by neutralizing their QB and running backs in some of the toughest competition of the season.
After soundly defeating Southgate at home last Thursday, the JV Warriors look to punctuate the season with a final victory over rival Carlson on their home turf.
