Woodhaven varsity dominates at Downriver Classic

Woodhaven Varsity swim team is living its potential this season with tremendous swimmers who have been crushing the competition since freshman year. The team has had five meets so far this season which they have been killing it. Their only loss came against Dundee Community on December 6th with a razor thin score of 94-89. Since that loss, Woodhaven has one each and every meet with destroying all the teams. Their last four meets where they decimated Carlson, Allen Park, Lincoln Park and Riverview with scores of 102-73, 111-73 95-59 and 91-84.

In the Downriver Classic overall Senior Parker Shope has placed number 1 in 50 Y Free with time of 22.12 and also comes number 2 in 100 Y free with time of 49.62 which ranks him number 4 swimmer in the whole downriver league. He also is ranked number 8 for 50 free and has the high school record in Woodhaven history.

Senior Ian Wolney came 3rd place in 50 Y free with a time of 23.91 also 3rd place in 200 Y free with 1:53.15. These two rank high in Downriver and even state. 

Senior Isaac Perez showed the most improvement with placing 6th and having a time of 24.75. Also in the 50 Fly he showed his largest improvement with +3.5 with a time of 27.86

Also in the 1M Diving Senior John Martin ranked number 1 with giving the team 491.90 points and overall score of 6 to the team. John is ranked number 2 in the state for diving with a time of 318.15

Woodhaven won the most gold in the Downriver Classic with 4 gold and 1 silver. Also the team ranked number 1 for the 400 free relay men with the times of 3:27:57 overall. The Warriors start the season strong overall with many meets to come. This year of special seniors have been breaking records since freshman year and look forward to the rest of the season.
