Taylor Swift has been an icon in the music industry for around 17 years now. She started with country music and has evolved into pop music. Most recently Taylor released her Midnights album and started her Eras Stadium Tour, where she sings songs from all of her albums. If you are interested in listening to Taylor Swift here are my top five to listen to.

Number 5: You’re On Your Own Kid

“You’re On Your Own Kid” is track five on her most recent album Midnights. The song starts with hope and optimism and it quickly falls to her realizing that she is on her own and she has been for a while now. My favorite lyrics in the song are “From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes, I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this.” The music to this piece is beautiful and the lyrics are genius. Overall the Song is great to listen to and number five on my list, because I love the beat of the song, and the lyrics are very well thought out.

Number 4: “This Is Me Trying”

“This Is Me Trying” is track nine on her album, Folklore. This is a great song for when you want to get out a good cry. The song talks about how she knows she used to be happier than she is now. However, she is still trying in life whether people realize it or not. One of my favorite lyrics in the song is “At least I’m trying”. The lyrics make you think about your life and the music is very pretty. Overall the song is a great song to listen to and number four on my list.

Number 3: Back To December

“Back To December” is track three on her album, Speak Now. This song brings a sense of nostalgia to me. I loved this song when I was younger and I still love it today. The song talks about how she misses someone and she would go back and change the way things ended if she could. One of my favorite lyrics is “It turns out freedom ain’t nothin’ but missin’ you.” The lyrics are well thought out and I love the music behind it. Overall this song is a must-listen-to and number three on my list.

Number 2: Getaway Car

“Getaway Car” is track nine on her album, Reputation. This song is more upbeat. The message in the song is about a failing relationship that started off good but ended up being more one-sided and destined to fail. My favorite lyrics in the song are “We were jet-set, Bonnie and Clyde, until I switched to the other side.” The music in this song is more upbeat and the lyrics are genius. Taylor did a great job with this song. Overall this song is great and well thought out and it’s number two on my list.

Number 1: All Too Well (10-minute Version) (Taylors Version)

“All Too Well” is track thirty on her album, Red (Taylor’s version). This song is the most genius song you will ever hear.  Releasing the ten-minute version was the smartest thing Taylor Swift could do. The song is about a relationship Taylor had with Jake Gyllenhaal that included a huge age difference. My favorite lyrics from the song are “And you call me up again just to break me like a promise, So casually cruel in the name of bein’ honest, I’m a crumpled-up piece of paper lyin’ here, ‘Cause I remember it all, all, all.” The lyrics are genius. They use metaphors to hint at things in her relationship. The music fits the lyrics perfectly. This song is the best Taylor Swift song to ever exist and I recommend listening to it.

Honorable Mentions

These honorable mentions are songs that are still great for many reasons but didn’t make the top five list. I highly recommend listening to these songs if interested.

You Belong With Me

This song is a classic and gives me a sense of nostalgia. If you are looking for an upbeat song to jam out to anywhere this is a perfect match. I love the lyrics and the music is fun.

Out Of The Woods

The bridge to this song is so powerful. It is another more upbeat song. By far the best part of the song is the bridge, it makes you want to sing while screaming.

This song is a great song that is also more upbeat. I love to sing this song in my car and it is an amazing song to listen to.

Don’t Blame Me

This song is a close second to Getaway Car for the best song on reputation. It’s a genius song that I would highly recommend adding to your playlist.

The Man

The Man is another song that should be on everyone’s playlist. It makes you feel powerful and is a fun, upbeat song.

Champagne Problems

This song is more slow and sad, however, it has genius lyrics and I love to listen to this song on any day.
