Senior Payton Scheffler brands her sporting and academic achievements at Woodhaven High School.
Scheffler has an amazing record in track and cross country with a personal record in the 2.65 mile with a 15:48 and in the 5000 meter at a time of 18:33.
Also in track with a record in the 400 meter with a time of 0:59.04, 800 meter 2:12.84, and the 1600 meter with an astounding time of 4:58.09.
“We all work hard no matter what throughout the whole year, and we are all there for each other. We all have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, we always have each other’s backs” Scheffler says about her teammates during both seasons.
She has been invited to personal state meets for the high school MHSAA Division I.
“I am super thankful and excited for the experiences that I have had and continue to have. It has been extremely fun and proves that hard work pays off.” Scheffler stated about the past seasons and current season of cross country.
Scheffler has two coaches, Jake Hammerle and Darell Myree, who push her and the whole team to succeed more than they could imagine.
When asked how Scheffler got to the point she is now, being consistent and keeping up with all the training is the most important part, including the workouts that are not mandatory you should do.
Now that she is in her senior year at Woodhaven High School, the Woodhaven community all hopes to see that she will be making a return to the States.
Scheffler said putting all of that pressure on yourself is never good and you should focus on the race you are currently in.
Her family will be leaving an outstanding impression on the rest of the WHS community with her brother Pierce Scheffler, another outstanding runner, and her father Mr. Scheffler who teaches Sports Science.
