The Lady Warriors JV Volleyball team showed great teamwork and discipline during their home opener against the Carlson Marauders.
The Warriors had a great win against the Carlson Marauders on Tuesday, September 19. The team played as one, on the court and showed strong communication skills, throughout the entire game and maintained their composure when the game got tough.
In the opening set, they came out strong. With their setter and co-captain Hannah Antaran serving, the Warriors came out with a 4-0 lead. Keeping the pressure on the Mauraders, the Warriors worked together to get an 8-3 run. Antaran said, “The team played well together, but we could have communicated more.”
The Warriors took the first set 25-10, keeping the Marauders under 15, and felt confident going into the second set where the Warriors carried that momentum with an early 6-0 lead.
Using communication and teamwork, the Warriors pushed Carlson to a 16-10 deficit. Outside hitter Ellie Greer led in hits per set, and the Warriors took the second set 25-14. The Warriors moved into the third set, it was a back and forth battle with serving, and passing being the main differences during this set. In the end Warriors take the third 25-20.
The team won all three sets against Carlson to take the home opener of the season to make their record 2-0. Greer explains, “ We showed great teamwork and pushed each other to make each other better.”
The Warriors take on the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds on October 5 next week for the Pink Out game.
