The 2023 school year at Woodhaven High School brings in new faces as there is a new assistant principal, Mrs. Izzi.
Dawn Izzi has gained the position of assistant principal at Woodhaven High School. She is getting a feel for the culture and climate of the building, while also trying to get to know all the staff and students to form connections.
Izzi has a variety of short-term and long-term goals for the school year of 2023, that will aim to “maintain the greatness that is Woodhaven while also ushering in positive transformation,” said Mrs. Izzi.
Izzi explains, “School is a living organism that changes and grows and requires consistent adjustment to those changes” and hopes to have a positive effect on the students by not only adapting to the change but being a part of the change.
Izzi has always wanted to be a part of the district since she moved to Woodhaven 7 years ago, making this her dream job. She is very grateful for this opportunity and all the support she has received.
Outside of school, Izzi enjoys lunch dates with her friends and time spent outdoors. She is a parent, a graduate student, and an assistant principal, but her workload leaves her struggling to find time for hobbies.
“I’m not a huge adrenaline seeker/risk taker type, but I would like to travel and visit some exotic places once I retire,” says Izzi. She hopes that she will have more free time in retirement.
She has been with her husband for 22 years and has two children, now six and eight years-old.
Izzi has two dogs whom she adores named Maximus and Brooklyn.
