JV Warrior volleyball falls short against Jags

The JV Warriors Volleyball team experienced a difficult loss against their rivals, Allen Park, in three sets.

Woodhaven visited the Jags, having a hard time adjusting to the loud, intimidating gym, but the team persisted in the hopes of success.

To win, the teams needed 25 points from 2 out of 3 sets.

Woodhaven was stunned by the skill set of Allen Park compared to previous teams and underestimated the team early on. In the first set, they lost 25-20. In the second set, the Warriors lost again, 25-21. The team continued to struggle with covering deep corners and tips.  Ultimately, Woodhaven lost the third set 25-22.

Many may overlook JV teams as a whole, but the energy, the communication, and the team bond was the best look Woodhaven has had this season.

Team captain Hannah Antaran (7) a starting setter had thirteen assists, helping other team captain Ellie Greer (17) lead the team with kills. Greer, the star outside hitter, had five kills that Allen Park couldn’t successfully return.

The freshman Brooklynn Vallimont (2) had four aces throughout the sets. Vallimont is the only one on the JV with a jump serve, giving Allen Park a difficult time in serve receive. Allowing the Warriors to stay in the game and create intense competition.

Not forgetting about the defenders, Ava Costa (4), the libero, had five digs. She continued to boost the morale of the team. Numerous times when the crowd thought the rally ended, Costa’s hussle continued to keep the ball off the floor while maintaining control of the court.

This was an incredibly intense face-off between the two rivals.

It was the Warrior’s first loss of the season, after their previous battles against Taylor and Carlson.
