The JV Warriors football team fell short in a hard-fought 14-0 battle on the road, in a massive Downriver League rivalry against the Carlson Marauders on October 5. Carlson entered the game with an undefeated 6-0 record, while Woodhaven came into this matchup 5-1 on the year, carrying momentum following a victory against the Taylor Griffins the week prior. However, they did not prove to be enough for the stingy Carlson defense, which is ultimately what led them to victory in the low-scoring affair.
When asked about his overall thoughts on the game, Woodhaven’s Coach Kamberoski stated, “We just struggled to get going offensively… had a few plays gone differently, you’re looking at a completely different ball game, but we look forward to righting our wrongs in next week’s game.” Although the defense held a skillful Marauder offense to just 14 points, they were not able to generate any scores and fell just short.
Although the loss was to a very well-respected opponent this week, the JV Warriors look to be resilient and bounce back as they take on Lincoln Park on October 12th. Kamberovski explained, “We are certainly not looking past LP (Lincoln Park). We know every team we play is going to bring it and want to beat us regardless of their records. Because who doesn’t want to beat Woodhaven, right?”
The Woodhaven JV team will be on their home turf as they take on the Lincoln Park Railsplitters on October 12, as they hope to bounce back to gain a victory following the hard-fought loss to Gibraltar Carlson.
