The Woodhaven JV cross country team has greatly improved as a team, as they have been running in varsity matches all season. The Marauder Invitational is a way for the JV runners to be in the spotlight.
The boys had a very successful meet at the Marauder Invite, placing fourth out of ten teams. Overall, everyone placed well, with six people finishing in the top 50.
Anthony Pizzimenti led the way, placing 15th with a time of 19:23.5. Following right behind him were Carter Michling, placing 20th with a time of 19:58.3, and Liam Warner, with a time of 20:11.3, placing 24th.
The others with sub-22-minute times were Ahmed Abdul-Latif (30th), Tyler Black (34th), and Humza Iqbal (50th).
The JV boys team has continued to improve all season with senior runner, Carter Michling saying, “Running in the Varsity matches all season has put me up against better competition and better prepares me to race in the JV matches.” Having better competition gives the runners better opportunities to play against kids who are more closely matched to them.
Junior runner Liam Warner says, “Running in the Varsity matches puts me up against people with faster paces.” With the JV running with people at faster paces, it strives to make the JV team faster.
As the season moves forward, the JV team will continue to grow and get better. They have proven themselves to be top in the Downriver League.
