SADD members take the initiative to promote making healthy and responsible decisions through the annual trunk or treat.
Halloween events like the Trunk or Treat are a considerable way for community members to unify and celebrate the holiday.
SADDS’s goal for hosting this event was to create a fun and safe environment for the community to celebrate Halloween.
SADD president Elsie Philabaum participated in the event by dressing up with Heidi Klindt and her dog Roger as Despicable Me characters. “I enjoy doing it because I love seeing all the kids’ faces light up when they get candy,” Philabaum says.
Non-SADD members were also allowed to decorate their trunks for the event. Student Alyssa Ganop says, “It is fun to be able to get dressed up as characters children like.”
Ganop dressed up with her friend Emmarose Doran as Sven and Olaf from Frozen. They included balloons and snowflakes hanging from their trunk. The decorations and characters created a magical atmosphere for the children.
SADD members, Lindsey Arnston, Billy Sennet, Jimmy Olbrich, Colin Robins, and Brooke Taylor created an engaging trunk designed as the board game Candy Land. The kids got to walk on a colorful path to get their candy.
The cookie monster trunk created by Brooke Hill, Katie DuChene, and Mackenzie Johnson. The trunk was decorated with a path of cookies leading to the opening of the cookie monster’s mouth.
The engaging trunks and the amount of participation from community members allowed for an amazing turn out. Kudos to SADD for creating a safe and engaging environment for the community to trick or treat in.
