Teenagers struggle with seasonal depression, stress, and anxiety, especially around the holidays. This upcoming week, December 18th-December 22nd, Teen Task Force is organizing a kindness tree, designed to spread awareness and positive messages to students through the use of ornaments. Ornaments will be placed on the tree once words of encouragement are written on them.
Recently in November, candy grams were passed out by club members to allow students and staff an opportunity to express their gratitude for one another. Another activity that will be taking place following Christmas break, is Coco Cram, exact dates are to be determined. Coco Cram will be an opportunity for students to have access to student tutoring while studying for finals.
Not only does TTF help students create memories but also the members of the club. “When we had students write an uplifting message on a piece of paper, and we put the papers up on the wall in the PBLZ for bullying prevention month in November. It was nice to see so many people participating in the activity and adding a positive message to the wall.” says Samarah Saggers
If you’re looking to be involved, every Tuesday and Thursday TTF runs various activities, including therapy dogs and fun games, in which all students can participate.
Throughout the school year, they promote mindfulness and well-being for students undergoing personal and school-related issues, including test prep. Club meetings occur on the first Monday of each month at 2:30 pm. In these meetings they spend time brainstorming activities or events they will be doing next to positively impact Woodhaven High School.
All are welcome to attend these meetings and ask any questions that you may have regarding the goals and encouraging activities provided by the club. Club president, Destiny Warren, is responsible for organizing events and scheduling meeting dates, if you are interested or have any questions about upcoming activities she would be happy to assist you.
