Why did you choose soccer and what made you continue to play?
My parents inspired me to play soccer at a young age when they first signed me up, and I continued to play because of the enjoyment I got out of it throughout the year. I got friends and experiences that most people would not have if it wasn’t for soccer.
Who inspired you to play and how did they do that?
My parents inspired me to play because my older sister was already in the sport so they wanted to play as well.
Have you only played at Woodhaven or have you played on other teams?
I played travel soccer with an NCL team my entire soccer career and played Varsity soccer for Woodhaven all four years.
What is something you wish younger athletes would know about athletes or sports in general?
I wish younger athletes involved in sports knew to soak in their time playing the sport and to really enjoy it because it holds so many benefits/experiences and it truly does go by quickly.
What are you looking forward to for your senior year? How are you preparing for the season?
My senior season of soccer I am looking forward to doing what I can to make the most of my last season of soccer with some of my best friends, and hopefully winning districts again like last year. I have been preparing for the season by working on my own to stay in shape and active so I can start the season off good.
What are some challenges you are facing on and off the field this season?
This season the main challenge is an ongoing battle with leg issues that my family has been trying to fix for quite some time and dealing with having a smaller team than usual this year. Off the field, the main focus is to stay driven being a senior and not get off task.
Having new coaches has been a challenge. How have you overcome those challenges?
My four years being on varsity soccer, we have had four different head coaches which is pretty crazy to think about. The main thing the team and I have to focus on is just to be as open and accepting as possible to create a good relationship and culture with the coaches which will ultimately benefit the entire team.
How do you feel about the senior night at the end of the season? What emotions will you be feeling?
I am sad for the senior night game because I know I will get emotional because of how long I have played the sport and been with some of my teammates, but I am ready to take the next steps in life. It will definitely be a bittersweet moment.
What are the activities you like outside of school and sports? What makes you enjoy these activities?
I love to hang out/go on late-night drives with my friends while listening to music. Listening to music is something I love to do as much as I possibly can and being able to be with my friends makes it even better.
What are your plans after high school? Why did you choose these plans?
I am attending Michigan State University and plan to major in Nursing or Kinesiology. Since I went to a soccer camp at MSU when I was younger I have always wanted to go there, and I just love everything about the school.
