Review: Rio

During students’ and teachers’ free time, we mostly love to fulfill our time with the entertainment of Watching television, watching our favorite movies, or watching our favorite show series. A movie to consider if you have not watched would be Rio and Rio 2.

Rio was first in theaters on March 22, 2011, and has continued thriving with the creation of Rio 2 soon after April 15th, 2015.  This movie has become popular since the creation until now, even being shown at schools, and for family and friend movie nights. This movie has made $484 million on Rio 1 with a budget of 90 million,  and Rio 2 made $498.8 million worldwide with a budget of $103-130 million. Rio is a rated G film so this would be a great movie to watch with your family.

In addition, Rio has won awards in Hollywood Film Won and Animation of the Year. In 2011, Golden Globe Awards-Nominated, Best Original Song for “ Real in Rio” 2012 Annie Awards- won Best Character Animation in a Feature Production Best; Best Storyboarding in a Feature Production. According to Rotten Tomatoes, this movie has a rating of 72%.

Rio is an animation filled with Drama and Adventure that continues the story of Blu, a rare macaw who got taken from his home in Brazil and smuggled and shipped to be sold to collectors. This movie shows how he makes his way back home after being a house bird his whole life.

This movie takes place in a Fictional Brazilian Jungle and starts Blus’s life during the winter in small-town Minnesota, where A girl Linda Finds the bird and raises it with lots of knowledge and love.

Fifteen years later blu is a well home tamed and intelligent bird that lives easily and still cannot fly, lives a comfortable life with Linda the bookstore owner. With a surprise visit from Tolio, he explains that Blu is the last male of his species, and he has a beautiful female called

Jewel in Rio De Janeiro. He tells Linda to bring her and Blu so that Blu can meet Jewel and save their species. Soon after Tolio examines Blu, he throws Blu across the room attempting to let him fly.

After Blu is kissed by Jewel Blue falls in love with her, he becomes aware of having a heartbeat during this moment. He has a moment of bravery and spreads his wings and he successfully swoops out of the nosedive to avoid colliding with the ocean, he saves Jewel and himself and flies back to his owners. As moments pass Jewel fully recovers, Blu meets with her in the jungle to meet for their final goodbyes to Linda completed with their epic first bump at the Sanctuary.

As the movie comes to a close the audience learns that Blu wants to prove that he is brave and confesses his love for Jewel and decides he even wants to stay to save his species.

I loved watching the movie myself, I highly recommend watching Rio 2 to continue watching Blu and Jewels Story, and I would recommend this movie for children 4- 16  years old with lots of fun colors for them and jokes to keep them entertained, or simply just a movie for you to fall asleep to or a fun family-friendly movie night.

Although Rio came out 14 years ago Rio came out with Rio 2 on April 15th, 2011. There is talk that  Rio 4 is in the making and is coming out on February 9th, 2024. These movies are good for someone who needs a movie to watch that is fun, good for younger siblings, those looking to feel good, and uplifting their mood.
