A star athlete Evan Doak preserves an ongoing legacy from his family, by excelling in varsity golf his sophomore year.
Evan Doak debuted for Boys Varsity Golf on May 1st at Taylor Meadows Golf Course. Doak did not let the pressure of Varsity get to his game, and he shot a 44 on a par 35.
When asked how he felt when called to play on Wednesday, Doak said, “I felt like I deserved it. I have been putting in much work at practice, even staying late and doing extra work. Golf takes a lot of commitment, and even when I practice seven days a week for weekends, I still see a slight improvement in my scores.”
Impressed by Doak’s consistent skill, Coach Bliss offered another opportunity to play, and Doak was ready to show his skill yet again. This time, it was an 18-hole tournament at Lakes of Taylor Golf Course on May 2nd, with regionals being held on May 28th, 2024.
After asking what it felt like to play back-to-back on a Varsity team of 11 players, Doak states, ” Since a lot of the Varsity players couldn’t make it to the match, I was certain I would possibly play again. Being able to show Coach Bliss my commitment to the game these past two games, I believe I could play a lot for the team next year”. Doak finished 3rd on the team on May 2nd, scoring 104. Evan Doak is the 1st alternate for the boy’s regionals tournament.
Doak comes from a family of golfers and has been doing it since middle school. He has put a lot of time and effort into his game, and it shows. Fortunately, as a sophomore, he has many opportunities ahead including playing on the large varsity team.
