Sophomore Joseph Berry shows his award-winning CAD project. Berry’s project is a chess set made from various types of wood, which he machined on the CNC lathe, spray painted, and sent off to the competition. Berry described how meticulously everything had to be set up to avoid the pieces breaking when using the machine, but he didn’t let those difficulties stop him from placing 2nd in the state competition.
