A Downriver rivalry is set to go down on October 4th at 7:00 p.m, where the Woodhaven Warriors are going into Southgate territory to face off in an intense football game. This game has a lot of meaning for both teams as the Warriors look to increase their record to 4-1 and the Titans look to become 4-2.
This is one of Southgate’s biggest games of the year because it is their homecoming game. Homecoming games tend to have the biggest audience out of any game of the year. The stands will be crowded on both sides of the field, and the fans will be able to impact the game with their presence. Teams tend to give it their all on homecoming games so they can have bragging rights on who won at each other’s homecoming game. Receiver and Safety Jace Davis thinks Woodhaven will ruin Southgates homecoming game, saying, “I think that we are going to ruin their homecoming and come out balling”.
The Downriver matchup is going to be a very tight and hard fought game. Both teams are coming into this game with almost the same record, the Warriors being 3-1 and the Titans being 3-2. The Warriors have beat Wyandotte 20-0, Trenton 24-21, and Taylor 43-7. Their only loss came from Allen Park which was 21-0. The Titans have beat Trenton 27-26, Clarenceville 42-22, and Taylor 22-6. Their two losses were Allen Park 20-19, and Calrson 63-13.
The Warriors are going to need to focus on Southgate’s Senior QB Jackson Sage, as he leads their team in rushing yards per game, total touchdowns, tackles per game, passing touchdowns, and rushing touchdowns.
Talking to slot wide receiver Maurice Tyler, he believes they will be able to beat the Southgate Titans by saying “we will win”. From the response of Jace Davis and Maurice Tyler, it seems that the Warriors are confident in their ability to win against Southgate for their homecoming game.
After looking at the statistics and how similar these teams’ records are with the Titans being 3-2 and Warriors being 3-1, it seems that the fans should expect a very close and hard fought battle for Southgate’s homecoming game.
