Woodhaven High School’s homecoming on October 18th, 2024, is sparking up excitement for ten candidates in particular- the candidates running for homecoming queen and king.
Adeline Williams, a contributing member of the Woodhaven Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Choir, and Newspaper is running for homecoming queen.
In regards to wanting to have an unforgettable time, Adeline Williams said, “I want to have a really good senior year and this will help me gain some fun memories for my senior year and leave high school off with a good note,”
Williams highlighted the importance of wanting to have a good senior year while ending her four year high school marching band career on a good note.
When asked why she wanted to run for homecoming queen, Williams said, “I have somewhat of a low self-esteem so winning would boost my self-esteem and winning would tell me that I’m well liked,”
She explained how she was excited when she found out that she made homecoming court and is grateful that other students voted for her. “I was excited cause I really wanted to be on court because it’s a good experience and because it’s my last year in high school,”
Since running with her boyfriend, Christian Grantham, for homecoming queen and king, Williams said, “I feel happy and really really glad that he made it on court because I hope that if one of us wins that both of us wins, because if not I’d probably be a little upset.”
Last year, couple Heidi Klindt and David Higby won prom queen and king. Williams hopes that since her and Grantham are a couple people will vote for the two of them to win.
When asked what she was most excited about for homecoming, Williams said, “ I’m excited for the football game because a lot of people are always there and also that’s when they crown the queen and it’ll be my last marching band performance ever,”
Still with excitement sparking, Williams plans to wear a blue-gray ball gown to homecoming.
Even though in the Marching Band and on Court, Williams plans to to play with the Marching Band during the homecoming game, while being a part of the annual Woodhaven parade.
