The Woodhaven Warrior football team is set to take on the Lincoln Park Rails for their homecoming game on October 9th at 7:00 PM. The Warriors are looking to get a big win on homecoming night after their harsh loss to Southgate last year. The Warriors are usually an excellent team for winning homecoming football games.
The Warrior football team is led by three captains: Nathan Scaggs (Senior), Michael Owens (Junior), and Robert Chandler (Senior). Another big name for this football team is Freshman quarterback Preston Scheffler. He will play in his first-ever homecoming football game for the Warriors. Overall through the first five weeks, the Warriors have a nice 3-1 record, with the game against Waterford Mott getting canceled.
The Warriors will need to stay hot this season and stay prepared for this game. There is no doubt that this homecoming game will drag in a huge crowd as it does every year, it never disappoints.
Senior Ian Louria states, “We’re a much better team than they are, we should pull off the win pretty easy. I have trust in my team and my team has trust in me, we know how to be successful and that’s how it’s gonna be”.
Although Ian has never played in a homecoming game because this is his first year, he is still going to help his team with the skills he possesses to help them to the best of their ability to win this football game. He also is a Senior so I think he will have lots of fun playing in this game, especially in front of the huge crowd that is projected to show.
This special tradition known as homecoming done by many football teams across the country is just the best way to explain a teenager’s high school life. The tradition starts with a whole week of fun with a spirit week, followed by the big game, and at the end, the most fun you can have with friends comes with a dance for all Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.
Woodhaven as a whole is full of awesome talent in all of their athletic teams. Football plays a huge role in that, their roster is full of athletes. A quote that Senior Maurice Tyler lives by “If you’re not a dog, you’re dog food”. The team lives around this, especially him.
