Alyssa Ganop is the student council president for Woodhaven High School. Ganop has been involved in Student Council since her sophomore year.
During the interview with Ganop, she stated, “I love being the student council president, I like doing the announcements and planning all the events.” When being in her position she helps run all the events for the dances and plans pep assemblies, parades, and more.
The way that the student council president gets picked is by the last year’s executive board. They will choose who they want to be the president for the upcoming year.
Ganop explained how much she loves her position and feels that she knows how to be a leader, but she does plan more than she thought she would have to, causing her to be stressed in certain circumstances.
In her position, she gets to know information before others. Ganop said, “I like when people come together and ask me questions because I know all the information before everyone else.”
This is the first and only year Ganop has been student council president. Senior year is the only year that an individual can be president.
Not only did she get involved because she likes participating in school events, she also spends time with her mom, Siham Konstantinidis. She said, “Another reason I got involved is because my mom helps run the student council board.
Ganop was asked to be in a podcast, the podcast took place on Friday, Oct. 11. During this podcast she talked about what she does for student council, what the plans are for homecoming, and upcoming events. Ganop explained, “They want us to be involved in more podcasts because they liked how we talked and presented.”
With Woodhaven High School’s homecoming being this weekend, Ganop is excited to see how everything goes. Ganop said, “The part I am excited for the most is the pep assembly since I picked out the games,” The games that have been chosen for the pep assembly are balloon game, table game, and tug of war.
