Mr. Gotz, a Freshman English teacher, was moved to the high school this year from Patrick Henry. Woodhaven High School was full of big changes when renovations started last summer. Renovations were done to move the freshman to the High School from Patrick Henry Middle School.
Moving to the high school was a big change for him, and the other teachers as the high school is much bigger than Patrick Henry. These renovations were made to make 5th and 6th graders go to Patrick Henry, now named Woodhaven Upper Elementary. The 9th graders were then moved to the High School. Mr. Gotz states the quote “For the first time in my career I get to interact and see all of my former students that I had back at Patrick Henry”.
Mr. Gotz, also known as the Woodhaven JV baseball coach, has been at Patrick Henry for his whole career at Woodhaven. This is the biggest change that has happened to him during his time in the Woodhaven School District. Woodhaven started the renovations last school year and they finally finished at the end of the summer.
Even though the High school was renovated not so long ago, in the PBLZ also known as the Commons, they renovated it again with the new classrooms and the Performance Arts Center. The renovations are beautiful and the workers have done an amazing job. Woodhaven tries its best to give all students the best possible experience when having school. Students should be grateful for what they have whereas most other schools aren’t as fortunate as Woodhaven High School.
Mr. Gotz said, “Freshman in with the older kids it shows them that they’re not the big dogs, but them being in an eight, nine building gives them time to adjust before moving to the high school”. Both the High school and Patrick Henry have good behavior, and since the freshman has moved to the high school no behavioral aspects have changed.
When it comes to baseball Coach Gotz thinks that we will get a good turnout at tryouts. There is a problem with the incoming sophomores with them being a small class when it comes to athletes for baseball. Overall baseball coming soon has made him very thrilled as he says “I am very excited for this upcoming baseball season”.
Despite being a Freshman English teacher Mr. Gotz is a great leader when coaching JV baseball. You don’t ever hear anything bad about him. All things that come out of people’s mouths are good things about him. Overall being moved from Patrick Henry to high school hasn’t been much of a challenge for him. The biggest challenge he has faced was just moving all of his belongings from his old room. But other than that he says that being here has been nice, and both the high school and Patrick Henry have good environments.
