Football is an intense sport that can be played at all levels, and here at Woodhaven High School, it is taken very seriously for a good reason. Woodhaven Junior Varsity has been a roll, starting the season at a hot 6-1, and their coach, Mr. Kamberovski has lots of praise and acknowledgment for the team.
Coach K, as the athletes call him, is a coach that loves the game of football and tries to show the students that it is much more of just a game of football. When asked what one of the key points of his coaching was, he responded with, “I try to promote a sense of discipline when playing the game of football. This game has been very important to me throughout my life, and I want to make sure the players understand that football is much more than just a game.” With that mindset, its not surprising that this team is a team to be reckoned with. Another factor that goes into this teams success, is the transition from the freshman football team to the J.V team. Coach K, said this about the transition, “There is certainly a step up in speed and strength in a JV game compared to a freshman game, some players respond better to that than others. For the most part, the players had great attendance over the summer and put in a lot of work to prepare themselves for the challenge of playing JV football”. With this smooth transition and dedication that these athletes have moving from one level to the next, this is definitely one of the biggest factors that determined the success for the team.
Speaking of influences towards the teams success, there have been some fundamental players and plays that have led to the success of the team. When asked about some of the big contributing plays or players, Coach K responded with “We’ve had a lot of kids step up and make big plays in some big moments. Landon Noe has been the driving force for our Offense and Defense, he has had multiple interceptions that he has returned for touchdowns this year.” That being said, Woodhaven High School better be ready for these up and coming stars who will hopefully contribute to the future of the high school football team, and the rest of the year is looking very bright for this J.V. team!
