When it comes to soccer, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two that come to everyone’s mind. Over the last decade, the two individuals have been in all soccer players’ debates between who is better. Some agree it is Messi and some agree it is Ronaldo, in reality it is Messi.
Lionel Messi has become one of, if not the greatest soccer player to ever live. Yes, I know that’s a stretch but if you do some research you’ll see that Messi has one of the best goals/assists ratio compared to any other soccer player. Messi has a left foot like no other, his touch, his passing, and his shooting are all almost perfect.
Messi has more goals and assists than Ronaldo and Messi has 167 less professional appearances. Messi is always known as one of the greatest playmakers and goal scorers. Messi has a total of 849 goals and 377 assists, compared to Ronaldo’s 907 goals and only 255 assists.
Messi’s goal-scoring skills are nothing short of phenomenal. Over his fantastic career, he has consistently broken records after records, including becoming the all time scorer for Barcelona and the La Liga. Although Ronaldo is undoubtedly a creative goal scorer, Messi’s versatility and creativity in scoring set him apart from the rest of professional soccer.
As a passionate soccer fan, I’ve always been impressed and amused by the careers of arguably the two best soccer players to ever live, Messi and Ronaldo. Both players have achieved outstanding success that sets them apart from the rest, but when it comes to trophies, Messi shows why he is the better of the two.
Messi’s trophy closet is just overflowing with medals and trophies. During his time at Barcelona, he won Numerous La Liga titles, Copa del Rey, and Champions League. For Argentina, Messi has won a couple of Copa America, and even brought home the big World Cup. Yes, Ronaldo has a whole bunch of trophies as well, but his great success at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nasar, and the Portuguese National Team, has not been as successful as Messi’s.
While both Messi and Ronaldo are two of the greatest legends of the game, Messi’s career has been more successful in multiple ways. Messi’s ability to consistently lead his team by example across different competitions is evidence that his greatness sets him apart in this endless debate.
