With the Detroit Lions on a huge win streak they are the best team in the NFC and proving to everyone that they are serious contenders for the Super Bowl this year. The Lions take on the Indianapolis Colts at their stadium. The Lions are favored to win by 7.5 points getting them to 10-1 on the season.
The Lions have a 57% chance of winning the game before game time on Sunday, even though they are the away team and have to go into a stadium to play a Colts team that is 5-6. Beside this the Colts have a winning record of 3-2 in their home stadium. According to the Detroit Sports Nation, “Despite the Colts’ recent win, the Lions’ recent form makes them overwhelming favorites for this game.”
The Detroit Lions are dealing with a couple of important injuries including Alex Anzalone who fractured his forearm in last week’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Aidan Hutchinson who broke both bones in his shin. Hutchinson was the league leader in sacks going into the matchup with the Dallas Cowboys and is still tied for seventh place even though he has been on Injured reserve since week six.
Going into week 12 of the NFL season the Lions’ quarterback had a amazing game last week and is having a pretty good year throwing for 2,492 yards and 20 touchdowns while only having nine interceptions on the year putting him back in the race for MVP at the end of the year. On the other hand the Colts’ quarterback 1,230 yards and five touchdowns, but Anthony Richardson has thrown seven interceptions and was benched for a couple of weeks due to his performance. With the Detroit Lions being the best in the NFC they have a great well rounded team. The Lions also have one of the best running back duos in the league, combining for 1,391 yards and 18 touchdowns in the 2024 season. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery have become a running back duo which no team can stop.
Another thing is the receiving core the Lions have and how they have overcome challenges including Jameson Williams being suspended for two games and still being second on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns for this team.
The leader of the team is Amon-Ra St. Brown has 685 yards and nine touchdowns in ten games. St. Brown also has 8 consecutive games with a receiving touchdown. Going into week twelve of the NFL season St. Brown is projected to get another touchdown to extend his streak to nine games in a row with a touchdown.
With the Colts dealing with their struggles this season they had a rough week 11. “They narrowly defeated the New York Jets in Week 11 by a score of 28-27, but their inconsistent play and struggles on both sides of the ball make them significant underdogs heading into this matchup against a team as hot as the Lions.”
The Lions are projected to be the best team in the NFC and be the number one seed in the playoffs giving them a bye for the first week of the playoffs. They are also heavily favored to be one of the two teams in the Super Bowl this year and will hopefully win. The Lions have never been to the Super Bowl.
