With the University of Michigan struggling this season, their offense is currently 4-4 and in 8th place in the Big Ten. After last year when they won the national championship, they lost a lot of their star players who left for the NFL draft.
In the past week, the University of Michigan was able to flip many star players in the class of 2025 to upgrade their offense from what it is right now. U of M is also losing some players who are seniors this year.
With the flip of the number one player in the nation, Bryce Underwood de-committed from LSU and committed to Michigan to hopefully help rebuild the team that recently won a national championship. The University of Michigan was also able to flip Elijah Dotson who was Underwood’s number one receiver at Belleville High School.
With the addition of Bryce Underwood, Michigan’s recruiting class has been a lot better. According to a SI college news article, “With the addition of Underwood, Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class has soared up to No. 8 in the country, and trailing only Ohio State (No. 2) and Oregon (No. 7) in the Big Ten.” Now that Michigan is receiving all of these good players they will be a serious contender in the next couple of years.
Michigan is also receiving many other commits including offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. He will help protect the number one player in the nation along with the other offensive linemen the University of Michigan has currently and will keep.
Bryce flipped his commitment due to huge NIL deals with the University of Michigan and hopes to fill the biggest hole in the Michigan roster. According to the NIL Daily, “While the reported NIL offer numbers were enough to make your head spin with some claiming Underwood got close to $12 million to flip, the Wolverines may have had a different very helpful boost in the pursuit of the future stud.” Michigan has dealt with many problems this year in the quarterback position.
Michigan has many big rivalries in its schedule including Michigan State and Ohio State. They have been playing every year for a long time and have a lot of bad blood between the two. With the new commitments and help from good coaching. This Michigan team should be able to win these rivalry games and have a shot in the playoffs in the next couple of years.
With Bryce being a five-star commit he is only the third player in Michigan history to be a five-star prospect to commit to Ann Arbor. This shows how good Underwood is and the amount of talent he has to prove to the people and perform to the expectations people have of him.
A couple of other commitment flips that are projected to happen are four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows, who was committed to LSU with Bryce Underwood. Meadows is currently ranked 119th, and Notre Dame is another school Meadows could commit to, but he recently visited Michigan.
