While Humza and his family do not celebrate Christmas, they come together to bond. As for Humza, he treats the holidays as leisure. He finds the holidays as a way to wind down, take a break from school, and get together with other family members. Here is what Humza had to say.
Q. What is Christmas Day like for you?
A. It’s a day off. I start my day off late by sleeping in, and I eat good food.
Q. What do you and your family usually do during the holidays?
A. Usually, a lot of my other family members who live far away come over because they have time off for the holidays. We like to hang out and eat while they are over.
Q. Do you do anything festive during the holidays?
A. Sometimes my family puts up lights.
Q. Have you ever thought about joining in the festivities?
A. Sometimes. One Christmas we did have a tree, but it was plastic and only a foot tall. We also did not decorate it.
Q. Do you feel different during the holidays?
A. I mean, I feel more relieved. Less work.
Q. Do you watch Christmas movies? And which are your favorites?
A. I want to watch Die Hard. I have not seen it yet. I am also a sucker for Christmas rom-coms, especially the Hallmark movies.
Q. Do you think there will be a White Christmas this year?
A. Most certainly. There better be. I hate global warming.
Q. What’s something you want people to know about those who do not celebrate Christmas?
A. Even if you don’t share the same values, the vibes are still pretty high during the holidays.
