Q: How has your high school experience been so far?
A: “It’s been interesting, I’ve had my ups and downs. I feel more free this year than I did last year. The teachers aren’t so uptight about most stuff.”
Q: What subject do you enjoy the most and why?
A: “That’s a hard question to answer, I’ll say it’s the weight room, because it helps me with my sports and, you get stronger and mentally. It’s always nice to work out and let out some anger.”
Q: Who helps you stay organized with your school work and extracurricular activities?
A: “Honestly my parents and teachers. My parents help me stay organized with my tasks and the teachers are a great help with stuff.”
Q: Are you involved in any clubs or sports, and when did you first start playing?
A: “I play football, and I do wrestling. For football, I would say, probably fifth-grade little league is when I started playing, but you know I was too big so I stopped playing. Then I started playing football full-time when I was in seventh grade. I think! I started wrestling in my seventh or eighth-grade year.”
Q: How do you balance your social life with academics?
A: “I don’t know, that’s kind of hard. I get mixed up sometimes, but then again, my parents kinda helped me balance everything. Like going over homework to make sure I get the full points, and helping me study for tests if I need it.”
Q: What are some goals you have for yourself?
A: “I want to have my first football scholarship next year as a junior. I feel like that would be pretty good. Weight-lifting wise I wanna be able to bench 320 lbs this school year.”
Q: What was your favorite Woodhaven memory from last year? And why?
A: “I’ll probably say my first tackle, as a freshman on varsity. It was our first game against Wyandotte. Offensively I didn’t play that well, but I played pretty well on defense.”
Q: What is your favorite class and why?
A: “Probably woodshop, I’m making a cutting board right now, and I like it. I’ve always been good with my hands and with construction stuff. Helping my dad cut wood and build decks and stuff.”
Q: How do you handle pressure in school?
A: “Praying about it helps you know, staying close to God and Just knowing everything will be okay in the long run.”
Q: What advice can you give to incoming freshmen?
A: “Don’t fall behind, at all. Try to stay on top of all your work because it’s really hard to get that backup and study for all of your tests as much as you can.”
