In recent events Lions running back David Montgomery also known as Knuckles, tore his MCL this past Sunday in their game against the Buffalo Bills. Montgomery started this game by being immediately shut down by the first few runs by the Bills’ defense.
Montgomery was shut down almost the whole game, only putting together four rushing yards for the Lions’ offense. Although Montgomery’s run game was not on point, he still helped the team with four receptions and 31 receiving yards.
Montgomery was taken out during the second quarter with some knee problems, and he would not re-enter the game until after the second half. Montgomery was taken out again during the second half of the game where sideline cameras showed how visibly uncomfortable Montgomery was while being checked out.
After the game, it was announced that David Montgomery would not be returning for the rest of the season with an MCL tear in his knee. Dan Campbell said, “We’re going to miss him.” Dan Campbell and the rest of the Lions will miss him and will keep him in their prayers and thoughts while they continue to move forward during this season.
Jahmyr Gibbs (the Lions’ other running back) is the other important half of the Lions rush game, however, he is also very close with Montgomery. No one knows how Gibbs will play without Montgomery, but the Lions will have to move on to make it through the rest of the regular season into the playoffs.
