Ethan Pawlowski is a senior at WHS and has been a varsity hockey player all 4 years of his high school career, earning the role of captain his senior year. He thanks his success to a variety of factors, and in this article, we will be looking into his career and some of his personal preferences.
What is your name and what is your role on the hockey team?
My name is Ethan Pawlowski and I am a center on the hockey team. Along with that, I play center.
How do you help the team both on and off the ice?
I use my 4 years of high school hockey experience to help out my teammates off the ice and lead by example on the ice. Along with that, I lead warm-ups to ensure the team gets the proper stretches they need to avoid injury.
How old were you when you first started playing, and how did you start playing?
I started playing hockey at the age of 4. It took me about a year to really learn how to skate, then I played travel hockey up until my freshman year when I started playing for Woodhaven.
Who is your favorite player and why?
My favorite NHL player is Nick Suzuki because he is a great leader and is dominant on both the offensive and defensive sides of the puck. I try to model my game after him.
What do you plan on doing after high school?
I plan on going to college to study graphic design or video editing.
How do you think the rest of the hockey season will go for you and the team?
I am confident in the team that we will be able to pick up more wins, especially considering we are not even at the halfway point yet. The more we keep playing and get comfortable, the more success we will have.
What is your go-to drink mid-game?
I always make sure I bring a BodyArmor with me to the rink. My top 3 flavors are Blackout Berry, Fruit Punch, and Strawberry Banana. I enjoy this because it is enjoyable and helps me be refreshed on the ice.
What is your favorite hockey slang/lingo?
Some of my favorite terms are duster (bad player), clear (clear tape), biscuit (the puck), and twig (stick),
Besides hockey, what other sports do you enjoy playing/watching?
I really enjoy watching the NFL and college football. I also like watching baseball. In the off-season I also played a 7v7 Halloween bowl with some of the boys.
Finally, what is one factor that you contribute your success to?
I attribute my success to various coaches and teammates I have had over the years that have molded me into the player and leader that I am today.
