Tri-M in high school is like the performing arts version of the National Honors Society. For Tri-M, you have to get a certain amount of hours by the end of the school year by volunteering at music-related events at the high school.
In order to be a part of Tri-M, you must sign up and apply to be a member. The president and vice president look over your application before letting you successfully join the program. You must be a part of the Woodhaven performing arts program in some way (band or choir), and you must also have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Every year in Tri-M, each member must get at least 8 hours of volunteer work. If you are a senior, in order to get your Tri-M cord for graduation, you must get 12 hours of volunteer work. If your hours are not completed by the end of the year, you will get put on probation until you make up those hours the following year.
Some events Tri-M members can volunteer for range from high school band and choir concerts, and middle and upper elementary band and choir concerts, to Christmas caroling for Brownstown Forest View Assisted Living.
Both band and choir students in Tri-M can assist in caroling. Band members receive sheet music to play for the caroling and choir students are handed music to sing.
Tri-M here at Woodhaven High School is run by students. There is a president, vice president, secretary, and historian. The president is Hayden Brasgalla, the vice president is Vincent Mazzotta, the secretary is Cheila Reboyras, and the historian is Chukwuemeka Ogbonna.
