Since Trump was signed into office, 24 executive orders have been created. Trump was sworn into office for his second term on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Most presidents change previous policies in their first 100 hours, during which they will sign multiple executive orders to demonstrate accomplishments for their administration.
One of Trump’s biggest executive orders signed is making it illegal for individuals under age 19 in the United States to have gender transition procedures done. This order states how the government will no longer provide funding for these individuals, and states that there are only two genders.
Some citizens believe that this is taking away First Amendment rights and discrimination. However, some insurance companies will still provide funding for individuals seeking transitioning procedures.
Along with this new executive order, Trump has created a policy stating that only two genders, male and female, will be recognized in the United States. Trump believes that this will help protect against gender discrimination and to try to eliminate gender identity confusion.
Trump signed an executive order that will reshape the United States military. According to CBS, Trump stated, “To ensure we have the most lethal fighting force in the world, we will get transgender ideology the hell out of our military. It’s going to be gone.” This executive order has made it possible for the Pentagon to create a policy banning transgender military personnel.
As there has been a large amount of controversy regarding publicly accessible FBI and CIA documents, Trump declassified Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy files. This ultimately released thousands of documents regarding the individual assassinations.
While executive orders continue to be signed into law, Trump withdrew from the World Health Organization. This process will take approximately 12 months. So what does this mean for Americans? Trump believes that the World Health Organization is the reason for ‘mishandling’ Covid-19 which created worldwide panic. According to The Guardian, Trump stated while signing, “World Health ripped us off, everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore.”
During his inauguration day, after thanking individuals who voted for him, Trump explained how he would sign an executive order that would rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”
While speaking about the change, former First Lady, Hillary Clinton was seen silently laughing at the decision. Trump believes this order will “renew American Civilization” and restore democracy. It is also believed that he wants to extend the United States’ water boundaries.
With the advancement of technology speeding up, Trump signed an executive order that will revoke electric vehicle targets. As signed by former President Joe Biden, electric vehicles would make up 50% of the United States automotive industry before 2030. However, Trump wants to revoke this order to keep the American automotive industry ‘alive.’ Trump wants to try to limit any affiliation with the Chinese party and wants to build a sense of American ‘immunity.’
Before his reelection, Trump initially agreed that banning TikTok, a social media platform that allows individuals to express themselves through videos on the internet, was necessary due to Chinese ownership. The ban was originally put in place to protect national security. However, after realizing the Biden Administration wanted to permanently ban TikTok for American users, Trump changed his mind. According to the New York Times, Trump stated, “I guess I have a warm spot for TikTok that I didn’t have originally.” This executive order has paused or extended the TikTok ban for another 90 days on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.
As the debate over immigration policies increased, Trump signed an executive order that declared a national border security emergency. According to The Guardian, Trump said, “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.” This means that military troops will be allowed to strictly affirm these border policies as there will be more deportation of illegal immigrants.
Trump has been working with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to restrict ‘illegal aliens’ from entering the United States unless presented with the proper paperwork and documents to enter the country legally. ICE is also taking further action to deport migrants who have come into the country illegally.
During the middle of Trump’s first term, he withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement. However, once Biden was signed into office, he rejoined the agreement. After Trump’s first day in office, he once again exited the agreement in hopes of avoiding more damaging effects of global warming and the climate crisis.
This would also mean that the “Green New Deal” would come to an end which allows individuals to take part in helping reduce climate change and allows people to have access to healthy natural environments. For example, access to clean drinking water.
