On Saturday, January 18, 2025, many Tiktok users were devastated because they thought it would be their last day of having Tiktok on their phones. TikTok is an app that many people find entertaining, and it is delightful to watch these videos for entertainment in their free time. The app is Chinese-owned, and not owned by a company or person in the United States. Since the application is not owned by a United States owner company, it therefore can not be in service anymore.
The Supreme Court decided to shut the application down almost 2 hours before midnight. Many users were devastated that when they opened the app on their devices, the app started glitching until a notification showed up claiming that the app was no longer in service for any users in the United States or in any other country, and claimed that Trump would have to do something to get it back. Many users were in disbelief that the app shut down about 2 hours before the actual time it was supposed to go out of service.
Many users spend hours of the day just scrolling through the app. Influencers around the world were no longer going to get money from this app, so their next plan would have to move to another social media platform. Before the TikTok ban happened, many users were going to move to an app called “Rednote,” which is another social media platform that is similar to TikTok. Many people were downloading the app “Rednote” as soon as they heard that it was supposedly similar to TikTok. Users slowly started to download the app, but there was one catch: Mandarin is Chinese, and not many users speak that language.
The morning of January 19 came, and users woke up devastated because of how the TikTok application was so addictive that it became a part of their everyday lives. Now that TikTok was supposedly forever gone, influencers had many people wondering what would be their next move. Such as going to another social media platform like YouTube or Instagram.
Many users before TikTok were on YouTube or Instagram and have had a good platform on both. When TikTok started rising, it was becoming a more popular app, and now it was not Instagram reels. Many social media platforms have similar features to TikTok, but somewhat different. Many users of TikTok have deleted the app from their phones. Unfortunately, if TikTok users delete the app, they can no longer download it from the app store at all. If the person does not have the TikTok app on any of their devices, they unfortunately can not download it back up.
The morning of January 19th came and many people deleted TikTok off of their phones because they thought it would never come back. At around 11 a.m., the app started to work for some users, and it was super relieving and exciting for most people. For others who started to hear the rumors that TikTok was back, it was devastating since it was no longer going to be in the app store for anyone. TikTok’s comeback has been very exciting for many users, and very devastating for others because they deleted it off of their devices.
Once the person deletes TikTok from their devices, they will not be able to get it back at all, unless Trump works his way to getting it back on. Trump is slowly working with his team to get it back fully. Trump signed a 90-day executive order to get an American company to buy the app and get it back in the app store. Many people wanted Elon Musk to buy it, but unfortunately, that did not happen and the app was banned for hours. Until someone buys the actual Chinese app TikTok, the app will unfortunately still not be able to be downloaded on the app store at all. After the 90-day delay is over users will finally be able to see the next step that President Donald Trump has for TikTok users.
On February 13, 2025, Trump made it clear that the Chinese president would allow a United States buyer to buy the TikTok company fully from them and would allow the 75-day executive order to be extended even more in this case this would not need to be necessary, because there are already buyers willing to buy it from the Chinese owned company. For now, the mystery of who will be buying the app TikTok remains a mystery until further notice.
