With the Lion’s 24-25 season ending, fans are both distraught and proud. Of course, as a fan, you want to see your team go all the way and hate to see them lose early. However, you must be proud of how far the team went and what they accomplished in the season. The Lions broke several team records like, Most wins in a single season, gaining the first seed, most scrimmage yards in a single game, and many more. Of course, some people blame some players or coaching ideas but I disagree. I believe they played the best they could and were simply out-played in the end.
One thing I completely disagree with is all the people hating on Jared Goff. They have been saying he isn’t good enough or he doesn’t perform when it matters and other things. But if you ask me and some others I believe he has so much potential and is far from bad. He is one of the most accurate Quarterbacks in the NFL and was ranked fourth in passing yards in the regular season. He also had very good reads before the snap. He was very good at reading the other team’s defense before he called a play. While people say he was the problem because of his poor throwing decisions I once again disagree. I don’t think a single player making some mistakes now and then makes him awful at what he does. It is only natural that someone playing at the highest level will make mistakes. Mistakes are things that come naturally to everybody. I don’t think his mistakes this season should dull all the things he did incredibly this year. Goff led the team to one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFL. Something else fans are upset about, though, is his mobility. While I agree he isn’t a very mobile player I believe he makes up for it with his accuracy and he is also well protected by his offensive line. Also, he isn’t only a good player on the field but he is also an incredible leader for the team. Goff has a great relationship with all his teammates and I and many others believe that is something that has helped this Lions team do as good as they have done. The team camaraderie is something that I love the most about this team. It’s the fact that they all hang out with each other outside of the game and also care about one another. They also always seem like they are having fun with each other at practices and in the locker room.
The Lions were and honestly still are one of the best teams in the NFL currently. I think that something that hurt the Lions the most this year was injuries. The injuries this team had suffered all season long were devastating. Early on in the season, we lost one of our best defensive players, Aidan Hutchinson. Then before the season started we were down some defensive players already. Later on in the season, we lost Alex Anzalone due to a forearm injury, but he came back and showed why he’s one of the greatest leaders on the team. We lost one of our starting Cornerbacks, Carlton Davis III to a broken jaw. Simply put our greatest adversary this season was the injuries. By the end of the season, we had about half our defensive starters out on injury reserve. So not everything can be blamed on one player. People have been blaming Jared Goff, saying things like he “fell off” and things like that, but I think he’s only getting started. As I said before he led this Detroit Lions team to one of the highest scoring offenses in the league. The main problem that ended in our short postseason was all the injuries we had to deal with. Even with all those injuries, the Lions were one of the best teams in the NFL.
With all that being said, I think the Lions will have one of the greatest comebacks next year than anyone can imagine. Our defense will hopefully stay healthy, and Jared Goff will have time to chill and work on fixing all the mistakes he has made and learn from them. We will also have time to get used to our new coordinators who were just hired in replace of the ones who left. Honestly, I’m upset about how the season ended, of course. However, I’m more excited to see what this Detroit Lions team can do next season.
