Sydney Sweeney is a 27-year-old American actress best known for her role in the HBO drama series Europhia. Sweeney started dating 41-year-old Jonathan Davino in 2018 then they became engaged in 2022. They also were work partners; both produced films together, including Anyone But You, in which Sweeney co-starred with Glen Powell. Sweeney and Davino separated recently, in 2025, and their wedding, which was supposed to be in May, was called off. Glen Powell is a 36-year-old American actor. He has many well-known roles, but more recent would be Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You, and Twisters.
In 2023, during the early filming of Sweeney and Powell’s movie Anyone But You, there were a lot of rumors and speculation about what kind of relationship they had with each other. Some people thought they were flirting with each other or liked each other, while others thought it was just two co-stars with a good relationship faking the flirting to promote their new movie. It was later confirmed by Powell that it was Sweeney’s idea to lead into the romance for their Rom-Com. During the filming, Powell was also in a relationship with model Gigi Paris. Their relationship did take a turn and ended in April of 2023 due to rumors about Powell and Sweeney’s relationship.
What really started the rumors were when both Powell posted a photo dump on instagram of behind the scenes photos from the movie but also Sweeney posted a photo dump as well. It wasn’t only photos that seemed really close in; it was also interviews, for example, their one at CinemaCon. People took off with this just because of the way Sweeney was looking at Powell. Another video that caused speculation was a behind-the-scenes video of Powell catching Sweeney falling backward in a playful way. People thought this interesting, seeing that they both had partners at the time.
What really has brought the rumors and speculation back to light is the fact that Sweeney’s engagement was called off, and after this, she was seen in Dallas, Texas, with Powell and other friends, including John Stamos at Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex grabbing dinner according to Page Six. According to the CEO and founder of the Tex-Mex, “They were all there at the same time, it was a really unique day,” he told SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio on Friday. After this spotting, Sweeney was also seen in attendance at Powell’s sister’s wedding, causing even more romance rumors.
Powell did confirm that Sweeney attended his younger sister Leslie’s wedding. During his sit-down interview on The Today Show with host Jenna Bush Hager and co-host Oliva Munn, Hager poked at the rumors, stating, “The wedding caused a little bit of a stir. Did that surprise you?” Powell answered with, “You know timing is everything in this world” while laughing. “Leslie and Syd are obviously great friends, and it was a hell of a wedding,” according to People.
Amid all the rumors on whether or not Powell and Sydeney are together, Powell’s mother broke her silence on their status when speaking to the Daily Mail in an exclusive phone call stating “They’re definitely not together” continuing “It was just, like, she was there with her friends” according to Yahoo. His mother also stated that Sweeney is just really close friends with the family and especially Leslie. For now, it seems like people will just have to settle with the rumors and speculations of their relationship until it gets either confirmed or denied by Powell and Sweeney.
