How Will Covid-19 Affect Christmas?

Taylor Long and Kayla Winnie

The most wonderful time of the year is right around the corner, and as much as we want to keep it out of the picture, Covid is still a thing that exists. This Christmas will be very different from the others, it just doesn’t feel the same this year, but that doesn’t mean it still shouldn’t happen. You may not have as many gifts under the tree this year, but if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that it doesn’t matter what you have or how you got it, it’s those precious moments with loved ones, so this year, instead of the gifts, be grateful for the things you already have, it’s going to be a small Christmas this year.

It’s that time of the year to burn your tongues with sweet, creamy hot chocolate. Many people have been wondering what will happen with Christmas this year because of the Covid-19. Will we be able to spend Christmas with our whole family? Can we go see Christmas plays and will kids be able to see Santa at malls? We don’t know for sure how many people you can spend Christmas with yet but it is safer to not go visit aunt Mary, uncle John, and your one million cousins nor is it safe to visit grandma Betty.

If you do visit them, it is best to follow the instructions to prevent the virus from spreading even more. So far it looks like there will be a mall Santa but kids can’t sit on Santa’s lap. Some places will be having Santa behind plexiglass and others will have no plexiglass but they will have the kids just a few feet away from them. As of right now, there are still tickets to go see Christmas plays but things can change quickly. Merry Christmas, and enjoy your hot chocolate around the fireplace in your Christmas pajamas.
