As the school year ends, most sports have either already finished or are wrapping up their season. The senior’s final high school season is coming to an end. Some are going to play at the next level while others have to give up on their childhood dreams. We interviewed three different athletes from different sports and asked them to reflect on this past season.
Jace Davis is the starting shortstop for the Warriors’ Varsity baseball team. He has been playing baseball for most of his life, and has made really good friends along the way. Davis said, “I’m gonna miss the guys, and playing with the people I have grown up with. I also cannot stop thinking of what I can do at the next level, so yeah, I’ll be sad, but I have other things to look up to.”
Adam Budai started on the Warriors’ Varsity soccer team as a freshman. Adam played soccer when he was younger, ever since he was three. His reflection is very in-depth and from the heart. He states, “The season ending the way it did, losing to our rival, Edsel Ford, really upset the team, mostly because it was on our home field. I just wish I could go back and play on the pitch one more time with everyone.”
Thor Machcinski has been playing football for Woodhaven for a very long time. He played for Woodhaven Elite when he was younger, and has now come full circle to playing on the varsity team. Machinski, reflecting on his time playing football, said, “This year was my favorite season because I was able to get closer with friends through practice, and just have a fun time while doing something I love to do. I wish I could have gotten more opportunities on the field, I felt like my talent went unnoticed.”
