The Class of ’26 seniors are preparing themselves for graduation from applying to college, all the way to receiving their cap and gown. This year offers moments of possibility and opportunity that could set the stage for the future. For others, it is the high point of many years of work, growth, and friendship. A million little things have added up to the person they are now, from themed games to late-night study sessions. “We just want to take advantage of our last year and have as much fun as we can while also prioritizing the important things,” Jaiden Docherty, a senior at Woodhaven High, added.
A college application is one starting point that many people pursue, even though the process can be stressful and evoke a lot of emotions. Students have a lot to think about, including recommendations and personal statements. It’s a chance for students to step out of their comfort zone as thoughts of their future become a reality. Seniors join together, offering support and guidance for one another’s goals. Homework and finals aside, senior year can bring forward things like Senior Sunrise and Senior Sunset, which can evolve into new bonds. Coming together on the first day of school for Senior Sunrise, seniors exchange stories about the fun summers they experienced and discuss the joys and challenges of their last year ahead.
And of course, no senior year is complete without prom– gowns, glitter, and celebration. For some, it is something to look forward to – a night of getting dressed up, dancing, and enjoying each other’s company. Throughout the year, seniors will balance homework, keeping their grades up, extracurriculars, and studying for exams when they arise. They bring the inspirations that shaped their high school experience.
