Here at Woodhaven High School, the Boys Varsity Soccer team has had a very competitive season. There have been a lot of hard-fought games, some wins, some losses, and even ties, it’s a part of how a team learns and grows. “Our team is great, and we have had a great season and we love to practice and win games, and we are ready for our next task which is districts,” said Senior Captain Sachal Chaudhry. We can see the motivation that this team has for their first district game on October 9.
They are hoping to have a good run at districts, and win games. The Warriors have played many games that were exciting, and very close. A great win was against Trenton, who are second in the league, and the score was 2-1. One of the team’s biggest peaks is their team bond on and off the field. The team is like a brotherhood where when you need each other you will have their backs, “ It feels like a second family,” said Senior Captain Diego Monroy-Hernandez.
Having each other’s back on, and off the field is great for team bond, and chemistry. It helps a team learn from each other better, and even play better. This bond is a reason for the success of the soccer team. Which is a great thing because one of the most important things for a team is team chemistry, and team bond.
Besides the team’s bond there have been a few standout players, one of the Warriors’ standout players is Benedetto Covelli who is amazing at striker, he is able to go around players, and shoot the ball with accuracy and score. “I am honored to be on a team with all my lovely and caring teammates and being the best on the team feels like a completion for all the years I’ve been training to get to this point,” said Junior Captain Benedetto Covelli. This team looks to be determined for wins, and to learn and grow.
The Warriors finished their regular season with a record of 7-11-1, with a lot to learn. They also finished 5-4, in the downriver league. Although the warriors aren’t the best team they have a lot to prove in districts which start on October 9th, at 6 pm. With all the hard practices, and games in the regular season they’ve played, we will see how the Warriors will use it to their advantage. The playoffs will truly show how hard they worked to get there.
