On October 3, 2025, the Warriors clinched a playoff spot with their dominant win over Dearborn Edsel Ford, bringing them to 6-0 in the season. This is a huge step in the right direction for the football program and for our city as a whole. This will be the first playoff appearance for the Warriors since Keith Christnagel’s last year as head coach in 2022. After two rough years under the current head coach, Dave Mifsud, the Warriors have turned the tables in their favor and are ready to face anyone in the playoffs.

After a hard-fought game, the Warriors fell to Carlson 27-23 with a minute left in the game. This was a back-and-forth game, just as it was scripted to be, with both teams scoring one after another. As a senior, losing is hard because most, including me, would consider this a personal game and one we needed to win. The way we lost this game just doesn’t sit right with any of our coaches and players. But now we just have to respond in the most positive way possible, with the playoffs starting on Halloween weekend!

Q: The Purple Pulse asked Coach Mifsud: After a tough loss to Woodhaven’s rival Carlson…How do the players and you as a coach bounce back for the rest of the season, and especially in the playoffs?
A: Coach Mifsud responded with, “We just all have to remember that playing football is a season… it’s just not one game. The old adage – “we play one game at a time…” meaning we have to move on from last week and focus our attention and energy into preparing for a tough and competitive Trenton team. We have to “bounce back” and have a great game this Friday when we host Trenton. We are a great team, and we need to act like it, and we need to prove it this Friday. Personally, I am not really thinking about the playoffs yet. We need to get a W this week!
With a chip on their shoulder and people to prove wrong, the Warriors will face Belleville for their first playoff game since 2022, away on November 1st at 1:00 pm. This game will be a challenge for the Warriors as they will need to give it everything they have to come out on top against Belleville and move to the second round of the MHSAA playoffs.
