The Woodhaven Boys’ golf team traveled to Riverview Highlands golf course for the DRL jamboree on April 10th. Overall, these six boys had an exceptional start to the season with their score of 176 finishing in second place between three other Downriver teams. This was a match against Trenton, Edsel Ford, Woodhaven, and Wyandotte.

Senior Billy Sennett put up a great score of 39 being the lowest on the team at this jamboree and came in 5th place overall, beating many successful Downriver golfers to kick off his senior season. Sennett has improved greatly over four years on this team by taking home many wins. It is his last season to help lead the team to more success.

The other seniors on the team are ready for success which was proven during this jamboree. Jordan Leuffen shot a 48 in twelfth place, Joey Palazollo with a score of 49 in thirteenth place, and Brady Pinkowski put up a score of 50 in sixteenth place. They are pushing to finish their Woodhaven High School golf chapter with a dedicated season.

Joey Pallazolo states, “Over The winter I went to golf simulators with my brother and I went to indoor ranges as well”. Many of these golfers worked all winter so they could polish their swing and keep consistent when it was not warm out. This is the full dedication that this Woodhaven team has.

Despite only being in his Junior year, Travis Richards shoots a low score of 42, putting him in 8th place showing his skills. Travis has had very successful seasons in the past and is off to a great start for this season. Austin VanMarter, another junior, had a successful round with a score of 47. These Juniors are improving and working hard during this season in order to get ready for their senior year. This team has already shown their greatness and consistency early on, all scores being on a similar wavelength as they are moving forward working on their goals as a team during practices and supporting each other to lower their scores.

This Golf team is ready to take on future Jamborees and tournaments as they strive to make history in the Woodhaven Golf Program. These boys will take on their next League Tournament on Thursday, April 18th at Riverview Highlands Golf Course.
