Come down to the Downriver Actors Guild within 2nd Street Performing Arts Center to see their production of The Lightning Thief (originally adapted by Joe Tracz and Rob Rokicki). That’s right! From Feb. 20th to March 1st you can see an iconic musical produced by our very own choir teacher, Mrs. Hymer. The show’s musical and assistant direction is taken up by Mr. Hymer, and it features numerous WHS students/alumni. Including: Zander Stec as Luke, with Cameron Abel, Noah Baron, Conor Hatfield, Makenzie Fitzsimmons, Delaney Ryan, Addison Walter, and Anthony Pizzimenti in the ensemble. Many ensemble members also have special featured roles; for instance, Abel is featured as the minotaur and Hades, while Baron is aged up to play a (very smelly) stepfather.
If you are unfamiliar with the show, here is a short synopsis taken from the 2nd St. informational page.
“As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him…”
Don’t be afraid to attend and support the crew. You can see the show on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 7:30 pm. Sundays are also available, starting at 3:00 pm. All tickets are $26 and can be purchased on DAG’s website.
