On October 15th,2025, the Woodhaven High School choir held a concert where all five choirs sang a series of songs and there were quite a few spotlight solos which were very good. The Woodhaven Choir program is made up of a group of students that are not just friends, but a big family that lift each other up and help make sure everyone always smiles. Within the choir room walls, there are five ensembles. Two do not require an audition, one is intermediate with auditions, and the other two are auditions but advanced level.
Concert Choir and Warrior chorus both performed two songs and they are beginner level choirs. Concert Choir sang Scales and Arpeggios arranged by Snyder and Lollipop arranged by Emerson. The two songs that they performed went very well and flowed very easily while still sounding very well. Warrior Chorus is the other choir that you do not have to audition for and they sang Jailhouse rock arranged by Lojeski and Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight arranged by Gentry. These songs were put together very well and they sounded like adults singing the songs.
Elora is the third choir that performed and they are also the intermediate level choir that you have to audition for. The two songs that they sang were The Boat Madrigal arranged by Porterfield and Come in From the Firefly Darkness arranged by Bernon. These two songs were performed very lovely and the diction and vowels were worked very hard on and you could tell.
The last two choirs that performed both had three songs and they are the advanced choirs. Chamber Ensemble performed Double Trouble arranged by Chinn, Threads of Dawn by Maunu, and Time by Cook. Time was performed like they were really into it and they knew exactly what they were doing and they made sure to make the audience feel the way the song is going. The last choir that performed was Bella Voce and they are the all female advanced choir. They had three songs called Moon River arranged by Simeone, The Rose arranged by Shaw, and Elijah Rock arranged by Hairston. These songs were very well and they were perfect on timing and perfect with what they needed to sound like and look liked. They all looked like they really liked their songs.
All five of the choirs sounded really good when performing and they all looked like they were having fun performing with each other. Choir isn’t just a school program but it is a family that everyone loves to be in and looks forward to going to class every single day. Don’t forget not to miss the Christmas concert December 10th In the Woodhaven High School auditorium at 7 O’clock.
