Woodhaven high school bands perform one of their biggest Christmas Concerts. All of the bands had an amazing performance. All parents in attendance seemed to really enjoy the Jazz Band.
The Jazz Band performed a piece called “The Funky Dreidel” composed by Jamie Roth. The Funky Dreidel has an upbeat mood, with punching out brass, and swinging grooves. Jamie Roth does these things to jazz up Christmas music.
The Concert band performed a song, “Clash of the carolers”, arranged by Matt Conaway. The Clash of carolers is a funny piece based upon a group of carolers that could not agree on what song to play. There are many interruptions of different Christmas music. Matt Conaway is an Alumni from woodhaven high school. He was a part of the graduating class of 1997.
The Symphonic band played a piece called “Tripwire” Jarod Hall. The piece offers a sneaky spy on a mission and he has to sneak around a hideout filled with traps, then all of a sudden there is an eruption of alarming noises.
The Wind Ensemble performed selections from the Movie, “The Polar Express” composed by Glen Ballard & Alan Silvestri Arranged by Michael Story. Band Director, Bradley Faryniarz, said that they were able to play this piece in less than 10 rehearsals. He also stated that they performed more music in one semester than most schools do in an entire school year.
