For decades black friday has been a major shopping tradition but nowadays it is very different from how it started. Most of the hectic shopping was done in-store, and it once had long lines of people waiting in the cold for the store to open. Now people mainly do their shopping online.
Back in the day Black Friday was the tradition of waking up extra early before the stores opened to camping in line to get the crazy deals before they were out of stock, rushing in as soon as the doors opened.
Wheather it was the new iPhone or an action figure people were fighting to grab one before they were gone. It got so bad that the police would have to get involved and people have been arrested due to altercations. In 2008 a Walmart employee unfortunately lost their life due to altercations in the electronic section. Other times people have been trampled over due to the over crowding.
Even with all the danger that came with Black Friday it was still a tradition that people enjoyed.
Nowadays most people do their Black Friday shopping online. This is because online shops tend to put the deals out earlier and keep them up for longer. They do this because it gives them more chances to make money the longer the sale is up, with it being online shoppers have a wider variety to shop. And people prefer to shop on the couch rather than waking up before the sun and waiting in the cold.
Black Friday was a great tradition in the late 90s and early 2000s, and some people still celebrate to this day but since the advancement of technology it has drastically died down leaving it easier and safer.
