Many seniors brought excitement to school this week with a harmless prank and a morning tailgate at the beginning of first hour, as the school year begins to come to an end.
One main senior prank came from students in the newspaper class, who filled up Mr. Vesperman’s office with balloons while he was away from his office. Students laughed as the office quickly filled up with hundreds of balloons, turning the prank into one of the most talked-about moments of the day.
Along with the prank, seniors organized a tailgate in the senior parking lot to make a circle so that seniors can enjoy their own time before school and during the first hour. Students were told by the group leader, Joe Carmack, to arrive about 15 minutes early so they could park where they wanted. Seniors also brought chairs, snacks, and drinks to enjoy during the fun time.
Bryant, another organizer of the tailgate, asked students to leave the center of the senior lot open to create space for the tailgate. Students parked around the outside of the circle and slowly came to the middle, where they had their alone time and a fun, memorable time.
Music played from speakers while students spent time talking, eating, and playing games such as cornhole and spikeball. Some students also brought donuts and other food to share. Many seniors stayed in the lot during the first hour to spend time together and enjoy one of their final memories before graduation.
Unlike some senior pranks that can cause damage or problems at schools, this year’s activities stayed relaxed and respectful. The morning gave seniors a chance to celebrate together and enjoy time with friends during their last weeks of high school.
For many students, the tailgate and balloon prank were a simple but memorable way to close out the school year.
