Have you been looking for a hobby that is beneficial to both your health and your well-being? Woodhaven offers many programs that are free to students who attend the Woodhaven-Brownstown school district. This also includes district employees and any of their family members.
Fitness is key to living a long, healthy life, whether it’s going to the gym, playing a sport, or simply going on a walk. Sometimes it’s hard to find time or the money to be able to do those things, especially attending school or work during the week, making the program stand out due to it being free and available on the weekends.
The program includes Pickleball, Basketball, indoor track walking, open gym, and adult swimming, all of which are great forms of exercise. Woodhaven also has CrossFit throughout the week, both morning and afternoon sessions for students. Students are able to exercise throughout the week. It is very beneficial to one’s health. It helps strengthen your brain, making you think more clearly, and helps the body’s organs function better.
There is always a wellness event being held at Woodhaven, whether it is CrossFit at 6:00 a.m. in the morning or at 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon, or the free programs being offered on Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
The CrossFit is led by Mrs. Smith, one of Woodhaven’s councilors. She strives to help students maintain their physical health and also mental health with physical training.
Being able to work out is a privilege that many people take for granted. Not everyone is physically active and aware that it is important to stay up to date with your health. With these programs, it is much easier for students and members of the Woodhaven community to stay active.
