Woodhaven Competitive Cheer took the mat at home, facing phenomenal competition from Wyandotte and other local competitors. This was a great challenge, but the lady warriors made it out on top, becoming District Champions for the first time since 2019.

Senior Klaire Wilson says, “I felt so prepared and ready to dominate districts because I know that we had given it our all during practices, and we knew that if we gave our all on the mats that day then we would get the results we want. It also felt bittersweet going in knowing that this was my last chance to win districts with my fellow seniors.”

The Lady Warriors knew what was at stake coming into Districts, and Wilson states just how prepared and determined they were to bring it on. Seniors especially were ready for it all, as this competition could have been their last at WHS.

They were great on and off the mat, bringing great energy for fans and families to watch. Chants could be heard throughout the school with the cheerleaders and their fans coming together to keep spirits high during such an intense competition.

Senior Pina Crapanzano states, “During competitions, it is important that there are fans present to cheer for us girls. Hearing them chant makes the others in the gym know who we are and it makes it fun. While being on the mat competing, we get some points for having a loud crowd, but it also just feels good to hear cheering and excitement after doing something cool.”

Clinching 1st in both round 1 and round 2 with an overall score of 777.80, the Warriors took it home and celebrated such an outstanding victory.

This championship helped them advance to Regionals. The Lady Warriors had a great season, staying consistent with their scoring and placing first at a home competition and Allen Park.

Their routines were not just incredible to see for their families and coaches, but they were stunning for students and fans who have never seen anything like it. Competition Cheer has so much participation, whether it is on the mat as a cheerleader or off the mat as a fan.
