Have you ever wanted to explore the world? Climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower? Tour the Vatican? Be immersed in a foreign culture? It sounds like Woodhaven High School’s yearly Europe trip may be for you. This trip, hosted by ES Tours, a company that specializes in organized trips for large groups in various parts of Europe, and chaperoned by Woodhaven High School English and foreign language teachers, gives students the opportunity to travel to foreign countries and learn about other cultures.
This year, students will visit Italy and Greece during their spring break. It will be chaperoned by Sophomore English teacher and Newspaper Sponsor Mrs. Courtney Williams. While in Italy, students will tour the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, take a walking tour of Rome, take a boat tour around the island of Capri, and explore the ruins of Pompeii. Then, they’re off to Greece where they will explore Delphi, enjoy an evening of Greek culture and food, take a guided tour of Athens, and visit the Acropolis. “These trips are such a great way to experience traveling abroad! You don’t have to worry about any of the logistics, and you have a local guiding your way and showing you the best spots in each city you visit.” says Williams.
If you missed out on signing up for the 2026 trip, no need to worry. There will be another trip to London, Paris, and Madrid in the summer of 2027, chaperoned by foreign language teacher Mrs. Jennifer Almonte. While in London, students will take a walking tour of the city which will pass by famous monuments such as Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey. They will also ride the London Eye and visit Windsor Castle. They will then travel to Paris where they will tour the Louvre Quarter, passing by the Notre-Dame cathedral on their way. They will also take a guided tour of Paris during which time they will visit the Eiffel tower along with other monuments in the city. Finally, they will visit the Palace of Versailles and take a boat cruise on the Seine. On their final leg of the trip, students will visit Madrid, where they will enjoy a flamenco performance and visit the Prado museum. They will also take a guided tour of the city, where they will see many monuments such as the Royal Palace of Madrid and Puerta del Sol. Finally, they will get to tour a soccer stadium as well as the city of Toledo.
Students get to experience all of this with an included room and board as well as food for only $5,500 if they sign up now. The price will become higher as the trip approaches. ES Tours allows for the trip to be paid for in installments in order to accommodate all families. Students can find information on how to sign up on Mrs. Almonte’s Facebook and the multiple QR code posters that are posted around the school.
