For seniors here at Woodhaven, the end of high school is quickly approaching, and it’s crazy to say that there are about two more months until graduation. But before that can happen, there are a few more major memories at the high school. These memories include Decision Day, Senior Sunset, Senior Walk, and Graduation. Some of the seniors look ready to graduate, while others nervously anticipate what lies ahead after graduation. So here is some information and dates to help you feel a little better prepared.
Decision Day
April 15th in the PBLZ, Ms. Z gave seniors a presentation about Decision Day. Not only going over some last-minute things students need to do for college apps, but also helping students wrap up their decisions on what they want to do after high school. She also talked about the Decision Day slides, which were already due and will be presented on Friday, May 1st, the official Decision Day. Whether that be college, the military, or trades, each student is heavily encouraged to wear t-shirts in support of their decisions and to come together as a senior class to celebrate. During lunches in the PBLZ, there will be a photobooth provided by Ms. Z and pennant decorating (which is hung up in the PBLZ). Then, during 6th hour, 11th and 12th-grade students will report to the gym. Games and gift card raffles will be held there, and students can expect cards like Chick-fil-A, Dunkin, etc. As well as senior shout-outs. It is going to be really fun, and be sure to participate!
Senior Sunset
Friday, May 15th, there will be a Senior Sunset and Movie Night held at the Football Field at 7:00 pm. This event is free, and while students are attending, be sure to dress for the weather and bring a blanket, inflatable couch, or whatever they feel is comfortable and appropriate for this event.
Senior Walk
Tuesday, May 19th, one of the last things before graduation is putting on your cap and gown and walking through the hallways of the schools that you either moved to, graduated from, or, in general, made memories in as a kid. This day is only for students who are on track to graduate and are therefore a part of the walk. Underclassmen at every school are expected to line the hallways and wave the seniors off as they move on to the next chapter in their lives. After walking around the high school first, seniors will be bused to BMS, the WUE, and lastly, the elementary school they attended. To wave all their teachers who taught them some of the skills they have now, as well as kids who now have them to look up to.
Graduation
Commencement will be held on Monday, June 8th, at 6:30 pm. Seniors will need to be at the high school at 11:00 am for the cookout. After eating, students will pick up graduation tickets for those who plan to walk, and this will certify each student’s attendance. Then, the actual rehearsal starts at 12:00 pm, and seniors will practice the processional onto the field. After that, it will be around 1:00 pm, and students should bring their cap and gown in addition to the shoes they plan to wear. Making sure they can walk safely on the turf. This will also be dedicated to taking some photos. Later on in the evening, it will finally be worth all the hard work these seniors have put into graduating. It will then officially be the time that Seniors walk the stage, get their diplomas, move their tassels, throw their hats, and say goodbye to a memorable chapter in their lives.
